Integrating
with Web Services
The iNetGrow system has been
designed from the ground up cooperate with the Internet. You may not only access controllers
from the Internet, but also develop sophisticated web sites that allow users to
access the various features of the iNetGrow system.
Active Service Pages (ASP) and
iNetGrowX
iNetGrowX is an ActiveX
component that gives you access to the iNetGrow system through its various
member functions. If you run a web
server, then you can quickly implement pages with content taken from the
iNetGrow system. For instance, you
may allow users to view and modify parameters from a web page or view the
current values of your inputs and outputs. In such cases, since the user interacts with the iNetGrow
system through a browser, any device anywhere on the Internet gives you access
to the iNetGrow system. You may
use a web-enabled cell phone to change view or parameters while you are out of
town.
Using iNetGrowX on the Client
Side
The iNetGrowX component may be
used on a local HTML file. This file
can then be opened with your browser and communicate with your controllers
through the iNetGrowX component. This
approach is convenient in cases where you do not want to run a web server. Here is an example of such a web page.
Registering iNetGrowX
In order to use an ActiveX
component, you must register it with the PC. Your PC security settings may disallow you to run ActiveX components. You may change your security settings
or manually register the component.
This is typically done using the DOS utility “regsvr32.” See the section “Registering iNetGrowX.”
Download
The iNetGrowX component comes
with the iNetGrow installation
software. You may also download the iNetGrowX
component separately.
