 Deciding whether you need an integrated control system and then implementing it can seem overwhelming. The simplest way to decide and to organize your project is to break it down into smaller pieces. Ask yourself the following questions:

  Do you want to automate an existing system?
  Do you want to set up a new system or are you adding a new greenhouse?
  Do you want to set up a control system or just monitor your greenhouses?
  What conditions would you like to monitor? temp, humidity, light intensity, CO2, pH, soil moisture?

  What types of equipment do you want to control? fans, heaters, timers, irrigation, fertilization, lights...

  Would you like to receive e-mail reporting the status of your greenhouse on your cell phone, PDA or another computer?
  Would you like to receive an e-mail on your cell phone if there is an alarm condition at your greenhouses?
  Would you like to look at the status of your greenhouses from remote locations?
  Would you like to change the control settings at your greenhouse from home, or while on vacation?
